Founding Partners

Broad Street Consulting Group co-Founders Margot DeMore and Milena M. Humplik began working together in executive search in 2004 where they gained deep market knowledge and a reputation for timely execution and surpassing client expectations. They founded Broad Street in 2013, and have built an unparalleled track record for successful hires, 60% of which are women and other underrepresented groups.

 
 

Margot DeMore

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Margot has worked in search and executive recruiting for over twenty years, with a focus on diversity search within financial services since 2004. She co-founded Broad Street with the mission of continuing to help clients increase diversity across their leadership ranks and advancing the opportunities available for underrepresented groups. 

Attending Boston Latin School, America’s first public school, gave Margot a deep appreciation of different cultures, a passion for equality, and a drive for excellence in all her endeavors. Margot is a graduate of Boston University. While at BU, her dedication to advancing opportunities for underrepresented and marginalized groups, and particular advocacy for women, was further propelled by her Women’s Studies coursework. 

Margot is an active member of AIMSE, IWIN, WIPN, 100 Women in Finance, and the CFA Society, where she leads DE&I seminars and executive career workshops. She lives in Charlestown, MA with her husband Matt, daughters Bohan and Fiona, and son Lewis. She enjoys being active and exploring the diversity of the city.

Milena M. Humplik

Co-Founder and Managing Partner

Milena brings over 20 years of search experience to the firm, specializing in leadership roles across investments and client facing functions. Prior to co-founding Broad Street, she spent a decade with a Boston-based executive search firm where she ran a national investment management practice. 

Milena is a graduate of University of Lynchburg in Virginia where she earned a dual BA in International Relations and German. She earned her MA at Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. She is an active industry advisor with DIME and participates in IWIN, 100 Women in Finance, and the CFA Society.

In 1983, seven-year-old Milena and her family escaped from the former Communist Czechoslovakia. Her family spent the next three years living in Switzerland until receiving asylum to come the United States in 1987. Her formative experience as a young immigrant child instilled in Milena an entrepreneurial spirit, a drive to give back, and a deep sense of gratitude to call the United States of America home.

Milena lives in Charleston, SC and enjoys international travel, exploring nature, and walks on the beach with family. She lives with her husband David, their children Robbie and Petra, and a Golden Retriever named Brady.

 

Our Team

Kara Spelman

Partner

Kara joined Broad Street in 2022, bringing her background in institutional client service to compliment the Broad Street team. Her journey to Broad Street began nearly twenty years ago when they placed her onto the Insurance Asset Management team at Wellington Management. Her other prior experience includes client service roles at IR&M and institutional sales at Stephens, Inc. She also spent nearly a decade as one of suburban Boston’s top real estate brokers.

Kara has called Massachusetts home for almost all of her life, graduating from Boston College with double majors in Political Science and Communications. She and her family have lived in Winchester for the past fifteen years where she has held leadership positions on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce, the Family Action Network, and several other civic organizations. Kara is also a passionate advocate for adoption services and frequently advises prospective families as they begin the adoption process.

Kara supports the Partners by conducting research, mapping talent, developing search strategies, and identifying candidates. Her work helps Broad Street recruit outstanding senior executives within the financial services sector. Kara’s rich and diverse background serving a sophisticated client base enhances Broad Street’s organizational and personal expertise.
